This is not a drill...the basketball gymnasium is open to members!
We are so excited to share that the Y’s new full-sized sports center, offering full and half-court basketball and volleyball, and four pickleball courts, is available for member use! New programs and services will continue to be introduced throughout the remainder of 2021 and into 2022 to fully utilize the new expansion and repurposed spaces.
The gymnasium was donated by Helen and Michael Caulfield in recognition of Art Powell for his decades of outstanding service to the Madison Area YMCA.
How to access the new gymnasium:
To access the new gymnasium, enter the hallway adjacent to the 4-lane pool, near the back of the Women's and Men's locker rooms. There is a walkway to enter the new space. Alternatively, you can walk down the hallway alongside the Glasser Center and then go downstairs to enter the new gymnasium.
How to sign up and view the schedule:
The schedule and reservations are available online here, or by visiting the Y's app (App Store or Google Play Store). Reservations are required for Open Basketball, Open Teen Basketball, Open Adult Basketball, Family Open Gym, and Open Adult Pickleball.
Do I need a membership?
To register for pickleball, you must have an active Madison Area YMCA membership. To register for Family Open Gym, you must have an active Family membership at the Madison Area YMCA. For Open Adult Basketball and Open Teen Basketball, a YMCA membership is required and open to Nationwide members.
Tell me more about reservations:
To ensure we offer equal access, ensure staffing, manage demand, and adhere to capacity guidelines and gathering limits, advance reservations are required for Adult Open Basketball, Adult Pickleball, Teen Open Basketball and Family Open Gym. These programs are included in your Y membership at no additional fee. Members must register online here or in-person at the Main Lobby or new East Lobby Welcome Centers. Reservations may be completed up to 48 hours prior to a program. Walk-in access is not available at this time.
Please follow these guidelines so that the Y can continue to keep our community physically and mentally healthy while also protecting our members, participants, and employees. Reservations also help us ensure our schedule and staffing best meet our members' needs based on usage. Our goal is for your Y experience to be as safe and enjoyable as possible. See you on the court!
