Kirby Center Celebrates National Dental Hygiene Month

(Madison, NJ) February 20, 2015 –The F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA celebrated National Dental Hygiene Month when Howard C. Kotkin, DDS, “Dr. Howie,” whose office is in Chatham, visited Kirby’s preschool and kindergarten classes to discuss healthy dental care habits.

Prior to Dr. Howie’s visit, teachers incorporated dental health activities as weekly themes in their classrooms. Children participated in science experiments by soaking eggs in soda and juice which represented the damage that these poor choices cause. The children practiced brushing their teeth, painted with toothbrushes, counted teeth, and read “The Tooth Book” and “Show Me Your Smile.”
