Nationwide Membership
Access to over 700 Ys across the country
The Madison Area YMCA proudly participates in Nationwide Reciprocity and welcomes eligible members from other YMCAs. Nationwide Membership allows Y members to visit participating YMCAs across the United States and Puerto Rico at no additional cost. While traveling, members can enjoy access to Ys that accept Nationwide Membership and share our commitment to safety, community, and inclusion. Because not all YMCAs participate—or may have different rules—we strongly recommend contacting the YMCA you plan to visit in advance.
PLEASE REMEMBER
- Nationwide members must use their home YMCA at least 51% of the time (the YMCA where dues are paid).
- Membership must be active and in good standing (not terminated or suspended).
- Members with extended travel (over 28 days) or seasonal relocation must place their home YMCA membership on hold or join the YMCA in their temporary location.
- College students must join the YMCA where they use the facility 50% or more of the time (Nationwide use is based on individual usage, not the family unit).
- Restrictions may vary by YMCA. Please call ahead or visit ymca.net to confirm participation before your visit.
GUEST RULES FOR MADISON AREA YMCA VISITORS, effective May 1, 2026
- Nationwide members visiting from other YMCAs may use the Madison Area YMCA up to four (4) times per calendar month at no cost.
- Beginning with the fifth visit in a calendar month, guests will be required to purchase a Guest Pass for each additional visit.
- Nationwide access does not include participation in family programs, including but not limited to Pickleball, Family Swim, Family Basketball, or Kids Central.
- Nationwide members may participate in group exercise classes on a walk-in basis if space is available; pre-registration is not permitted.
- Nationwide members may not purchase small-group training (IGNITE classes) or personal training, and do not qualify for member rates on programs.
- Nationwide members with youth enrolled in programs or teams at the Madison YMCA may not use program passes to work out in the facility. Program passes are for pick-up, drop-off, and spectating only.
- Nationwide membership may be used to work out in accordance with the 4-visits-per-month rule.
- Visitors using a program pass for purposes other than those listed may be subject to suspension from the facility.
- Nationwide members are considered guests of the Madison Area YMCA and are expected to follow our Code of Conduct. Violations—including improper cell phone use or inappropriate behavior toward staff or members—may result in suspension of facility access.

- Membership verification, confirming your membership is active and valid
WE CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY
As your safety and that of your family is always our primary concern, the YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings for all members, participants, and guests. If a match is identified, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel memberships, end program participation, and revoke visitation privileges.
As a cause-driven 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Madison Area YMCA believes everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. For more information about scholarships or to donate, please call 973.822.9622 or visit our Welcome Center.
