(Madison, NJ) October 16, 2015– Congratulations to the Madison Area YMCA’s 14th Annual Charity Bocce Invitational Tournament champions, the Aristocrats.

Led by team captain Victor Bocchino of Madison, team members included Carmella Bocchino of Madison; Tony Cianci of Florham Park; Rocco Nigro of Madison; and Saverio “Sal” Allocca of Madison.

Hosted by the Forum Club and the Toto family, the Bocce Invitational raised more than $28,000 for LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a no-cost, 12-week health and wellness program for cancer survivors and their families.

“This tournament is what the Y is all about—building strong community through camaraderie and fellowship,” said Diane Mann, president and CEO of the Madison Area YMCA.

The second place team, the Mounties, included team captain Gary Mercadante of Florham Park; Emilio “JR” D’Alessandro of Glen Ridge; Steve DiGeronimo of Glen Ridge; and Greg D’Alessandro of Verona.

Investors Bank was the presenting sponsor for the third year. Tournament sponsors were Rocco’s Tuscany Bar and Grill and Villa Rose Wine School, who both provided a wonderful celebration for participants and spectators. Additional sponsors that helped ensure the success of the Bocce Invitational were Madison Honda, Technogym and Dr. John Dalena of Summit Medical Group.

Nancy LoSapio provided a delicious dessert and Andrea Zembilis from Sugar Rush in Madison donated LIVESTRONG cookies that are still available for purchase at the Y’s Family Center on Kings Road. Cookies are $5 each and all proceeds will benefit the Madison Area YMCA’s LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. Additional sponsors, participants, referees, volunteers, Madison Area YMCA staff and friends also helped make the event a success.

“LIVESTRONG at the YMCA saved my life,” said Jane Scott of Morristown who graduated from the Madison Area YMCA’s LIVESTRONG program. During the banquet, Ms. Scott shared that after she completed cancer treatments, she joined the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program and found the support that she needed to become healthy and strong again. She applauded the Y staff for their support and care, noting that the program was an asset to the community.

The next opportunity to participate in a significant Madison Area YMCA charity event is June 2016 when the Y will hold its 19th Annual Charity Golf Classic. Each year, 100% of the golf tournament proceeds make summer day camp a reality for area children whose families are unable to fully afford the cost.

The Madison Area YMCA is a cause-driven charitable organization dedicated to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. All are welcome to be enriched by Y membership, programming, community wellness and health-enhancing programs, regardless of ability to pay. Generous donations to the Madison Area YMCA’s Annual Fund make it possible for everyone in our community to experience the Y.
