Madison Area YMCA Fall 2016 Open House Week: Help “Send 7 Kids to 7 Sports Programs in 7 Days” Join the Y and Get the Initiation Fee Waived and the Month of October for Free

(Madison, NJ) September 9, 2016 - Help “Send 7 kids to 7 Sports Programs in 7 Days” during the Madison Area YMCA’s Fall 2016 Open House Week from Monday, September 19, through Sunday, September 25.

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 of every 5 (17%) children in the United States has obesity. Children who have obesity are more likely to have obesity as adults—this can lead to lifelong physical and mental health problems, including diabetes and increased risk of certain cancers. As a 501c3 cause-driven charitable organization dedicated to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y is helping fight childhood obesity. The community is invited to join the crusade by donating to “Send 7 Kids to 7 Sports Programs in 7 Days” during Open House Week to help send kids to sports programs who otherwise would not be able to afford it.

Fall Open House Week also features a free trial membership for the week. Become a member during Open House Week and have your initiation fee waived and the month of October for free.

The trial membership includes unlimited use of the Fitness Center, open lap and family swimming, fitness classes, open gym and open play in Kids Central, the Y’s indoor playground and recreation area for children.
