Madison Area YMCA Summer Day Camp 2017: Journey On!

(Madison, NJ) December 15, 2016 – Register for the Madison Area YMCA’s full-day Summer Day Camp 2017: Journey On! for children entering kindergarten through 11th grade at the Family Center, located at 111 Kings Road and the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center located at 54 East Street, both in Madison.

Priority registration begins on Monday, January 9, for members and returning campers. Open registration begins on Wednesday, January 11. All camps start Monday, June 26. Camp is not in session on Tuesday, July 4, and Friday, September 1. Before and After Care is available at no additional charge. Extended care from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. is available for an additional fee.

Financial assistance is available for families who may not be able to afford the full price of camp.

Madison Area YMCA Summer Day Camps provide a safe, energizing and fun environment where children and teens can be themselves and enjoy the journey of summer where campers are engaged, grow and learn all summer long. Campers build character and independence through a variety of age-appropriate activities led by thoughtful, caring staff through new experiences and old traditions. Whether campers are exploring the Liberty Science Center, hiking Mount Tammany or volunteering at America’s Grow-A-Row, one thing is certain: Madison Area YMCA Summer Day Camps provide a memorable experience for all families. Camp Wantago, for children entering kindergarten through 2nd grade, is held at the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Ten-weekly sessions are offered from June 26 through August 31. Camp Wantago offers field trips twice per week, games, and time for learning and building friendships. Twice per week, campers visit the Family Center for swim time supervised by trained lifeguards and instructors. Each week features a new theme and includes S.T.E.A.M. activities. A nutritious lunch and snack are provided for all campers.

Camp KidsQuest, for children entering 3rd through 5th grade, is held at the Family Center Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Ten-weekly sessions are offered from June 26 through August 31. Camp KidsQuest campers will gain independence by choosing their own activities and learn about the Y’s Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in smaller age-based groups every day. They will participate in sports, gymnastics, arts & crafts and cooking every day. Instructional and recreational swim, a campfire, camp-wide games and field trips will complete each week.  A nutritious lunch and snack are provided for all campers.

Camp SummerQuest is a teen travel camp held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for teens and pre-teens entering 6th through 10th grades. Nine weekly sessions are offered from June 26 through August 25. SummerQuest offers different weekly themes that expose teens to positive developmental growth, decision-making, social responsibility and independence. Three overnight trips are planned throughout the summer where campers will learn teambuilding skills, practice independence and explore outdoor activities.

The Leader in Training (LIT) program gives teens entering 10th and 11th grades hands-on experience working directly with campers and staff in Camp KidsQuest at the Family Center. Through leadership-oriented teambuilding, meaningful community service projects and staff-led mentoring, our new Leader in Training program will leave teens feeling fulfilled and confident by the end of the summer. Four 2-week sessions held Monday through Friday form 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from June 20 through August 18 are offered with lunch included.
