The Madison Area YMCA’s 21st Annual Charity Golf Classic and Dinner Reception Send More Children than Ever Before to Summer Camp: Proceeds Exceed $100,000

(Madison, NJ) June 21, 2018–The Madison Area YMCA’s 21st Annual Charity Golf Classic and “Camp for One, Camp for All” dinner reception held at Morris County Golf Club in Morristown will send more children to summer camp than ever before. Event proceeds exceeded $100,000. 

Citi Global Markets was the presenting sponsor. Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse were tournament sponsors. 

More than 110 weeks of camp were sponsored during the event in addition to the weeks of camp awarded through the proceeds of the regular auction and silent auction items at the dinner reception. 

The extraordinary commitment of sponsors, 108 golfers, an additional 60 dinner guests and more than 40 volunteers including 17 ADP associates as well as dedicated Golf Event Committee members and YMCA staff helped make it possible. Scott Robins and Prat Patel were the co-chairs of the Golf Event Committee, which also included: Denise Bone, Bob Campbell, Michelle Kean, Jean King, Lauren Kozy, Matt McMahon, Michael O’Hara, Rich Van Ness and Scott Waterstredt. 

The winning foursome included Jack Mongey from Morristown, Scott Harris from Morris Plains, Luke Haralampoudis from Morristown and James Mongey from Morristown.  

The second-place champions sponsored and led by Dr. Isaac Starker of The Peer Group, were: Matt McKeon from Mount Arlington, Dr. Isaac Starker from Madison, Madison Area YMCA Golf Committee Co-Chair Scott Robins from Mendham and Marc Benton from Morristown.

Jack Mongey from Morristown won Closest to the Line for men and Madison Area YMCA Board Member and Golf Committee Member, Michelle Kean, from Chatham won Closest to the Line for women. 

 

Golf Committee member, Scott Waterstredt, from Madison won Longest Drive for men and Manon LaRoche from New York won Longest Drive for women. 

 

Alfred Chang from Mendham won the hole-in-one contest on hole #15 for a cash prize.  

Ben Curtis, Professional Golfer and 2003 British Open Champion, joined golfers on the course. He teed off with each group at hole #3. Ben hosted a wine tasting of his signature wine, Fairway and Vines during the cocktail hour.  

The Charity Golf Classic is an influential fundraising event for the Madison Area YMCA’s Annual Fund. The Annual Fund enables hundreds of children and families to participate in Y membership, innovative programming, wellness initiatives and services including child care, early childhood education and summer camps at the Madison Area Y’s Family Center and F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA. As a cause-driven charitable organization, the Madison Area YMCA is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, and improving the community’s health and well-being and giving back by providing support to our neighbors.
