Alex D’Amico and Joanne Chouinard-Luth Join the  Madison Area YMCA Board of Directors 

(Madison, NJ) – September 27, 2018– The Madison Area YMCA is pleased to announce that Alex D’Amico and Joanne Chouinard-Luth have joined its Board of Directors, effective Sept. 5. 

“We are delighted to welcome Alex and Joanne to the Board,” said Madison Area YMCA President & CEO Diane Mann. “We look forward to working with Alex and Joanne and are confident that they will enhance the quality leadership that is characteristic of all of our Board members.” 

Alex is an associate attorney in the New York office of Morrison Mahoney. He concentrates his practice in the area of complex civil racketeering (RICO) litigation. In addition, he has extensive experience in aviation and maritime defense and related coverage issues.  

A native of Clark, NJ, Alex was introduced to the YMCA in Westfield where he learned to swim and attended preschool. He joined the Madison Area YMCA last year after moving to Madison. Alex graduated from Fordham University School of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Rider University. He is a member of the New Jersey and New York State Bar Associations, as well as the Maritime Law Association (MLA) and International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).  

Chatham resident and active YMCA member Joanne Chouinard-Luth is the Chief Executive Officer and Director of the John E. Luth and Joanne Chouinard-Luth Charitable Trust. The Trust exists to address the critical population health and chronic disease issues related to diet, exercise and local food environments. Working to prevent and reduce chronic disease, the Trust is dedicated to population and public health education. A doctor of dentistry, Joanne is also a certified chef, nutritionist, public health professional, academic and specialist in mitochondrial disease linked to diet, exercise and lifestyle. Joanne also serves on the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine Board of Overseers and is a Director on the Board of Seabury Capital Group LLC.

Joanne owned and operated her own dental practice in Chicago until retiring in 2010 and during that time served for six years as associate professor of operative dentistry at Loyola University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Newton College of the Sacred Heart, her master’s degree in public health at the University of Illinois School of Public Health, a master’s degree in nutrition from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and her DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. She is also a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.  

At the Madison Area YMCA, Joanne regularly participates in training sessions, fitness classes and wellness programs. Giving generously of her time over the last year, Joanne also has become a valued consultant to the Y on metabolism, nutrition, exercise and overall wellness. She is married to John E. Luth, the CEO and Founder of Seabury Group and Seabury Capital. She is stepmother to Hamilton, 21, and twins Martha and Avery, 15.
