The Madison Area YMCA is Collecting Books for Children Who Have Cancer; Y’s TOGETHERHOOD® Project: Come Help Sort the Books on May 11
(Madison, NJ) April 24, 2019– The Madison Area YMCA is sponsoring a book collection for children afflicted with cancer and other blood related disorders and you can help! Please support the cause by bringing in NEW OR LIKE NEW children’s books suitable for children ages 6-14 to the Madison Area YMCA’s Family Center now through Fri., May 10.
Want to do more? Join our TOGETHERHOOD® Project: Books for Children Afflicted with Cancer on Saturday, May 11, from 1-2 p.m. in Buttenheim Hall at the Family Center. Sort through the donated books and make bookmarks with the Y’s TOGETHERHOOD® committee. This is a great volunteer project for the whole family.
All donations will be sent to Sister Pat’s Kids Camp, a free camp that provides a week-long camp program for sick children, many of whom come from underprivileged families. The camp welcomes children from all backgrounds and religious affiliations. Any books we are unable to supply to the camp will be donated to other local nonprofit organizations.
TOGETHERHOOD®, the Y’s Signature Program for Social Responsibility, empowers members to plan and lead volunteer service projects that address the needs of our community. Working side by side with neighbors and community partners, TOGETHERHOOD® volunteers make new friends, improve lives and contribute to a stronger and more inclusive society. Together, we can make a difference.
