Are You Ready for Summer? There’s Still Time to Register for Madison Area YMCA Summer 2019 Classes, Mini Camps and Clinics

(Madison, NJ) – May 31, 2019 – Are you ready for summer? There is still time to sign up for Madison Area YMCA summer session programs, and summer mini camps and clinics. The session begins on Mon., June 24. Registration is going on now online and in person.

New and exciting programs include Foundations of Fitness for Teens, a new one-hour program for teens to learn the basic concepts of fitness center etiquette, weightlifting, exercise routines and music function. Two sessions of the five-week program will be offered. The Tuesday session is June 25-July 23 from 2-2:30 p.m. in the Hubbard Conference Room followed by a half hour from 2:30-3 p.m. in the Y’s Fitness Center to put the knowledge to use. The Thursday session is from July 25-August 22 from 2-2:30 p.m. in the Hubbard Conference Room followed by a half hour from 2:30-3 p.m. in the Y’s Fitness Center to put the knowledge to use. Registrants must be 12-16 years old. Each five-week program is $50. Topics will include: Rules & Etiquette in a Fitness Center; Basic Muscle Function & Anatomy; Benefits of Exercise; Types of Exercise Routines; Developing Your Own Exercise Routine Based on Goals.

Mini camps and clinics are offered in Performing Arts, gymnastics, Y Ninja Gym, aquatics and sports throughout the summer. Performing Arts offerings include: Celebrate Summer Fun Dance & Theatre; Hip Hop/Musical Theatre; Dance & Theatre; Ballet/Tap. New Performing Arts 4-Hour clinic offerings include: dance/theatre/show production; ballet/tap/show production; hip hop/musical theatre/show production. Gymnastics and Y Ninja Gym offerings are available including combo clinics. Aquatics offerings include: water acclimation/movement/stamina and stroke development/mechanics. Sports offerings include: celebrate summer sports, all sorts of sports, flag football and floor hockey. Y-Winners basketball summer league is also offered.

Eight-week Summer Session:
The Aquatics department is offering 8-week sessions for children starting at 6 months old through 16. Private swim lessons are available for children 3 years old through adult. Classes also available for Special Needs children ages 3-12. The Madison Area YMCA swim team, the Mariners, offers a year-round opportunity for competitive swimming in both YMCA and USA Swimming for girls and boys from 6 years old through high school. 

The Performing Arts department is offering 8-week session for children in tap, jazz, ballet, pre-ballet, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, creative movement, dance kids, acting, kids choir, musical theatre and Jr. Broadway song choir. Private lessons also available. 

The Gymnastics department is offering 8-weeksessions for children of all ages. Parent/child classes are available for crawlers. Gymnastics classes for preschoolers through teens are available. Classes also available for Special Needs children ages 3-5 years old. Private lessons also available. Competitive opportunities are available through participation on the Rosettes gymnastics team. 

The Gymnastics department is also offering Y Ninja Gym, a structured training program that is based on obstacle course training methodology that includes: strength and conditioning drills, specialty skill development (flips, rolls, jumps and kicks), tumbling, martial arts skills and mindfulness/meditation practices. This program is specifically designed to build coordination, motor control, conditioning, proprioception, body awareness, spatial awareness, agility and physical strength while developing self-confidence, teamwork and discipline. Classes are available for children 3—15 years old. Y Ninja Gym and Me also available for 2-3 year olds.

The Sports department is offering 8-weeksessions for children of all ages from preschool through school age in sports including basketball, Y-Winners basketball, floor hockey, kinder karate, lacrosse, soccer, and sports & games. 

Enrichment & Family programming at the Y includes classes starting with parent/child classes through school age in a variety of subject matter including S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for toddlers through 12 year olds. S.T.E.M. classes include Adventure LEGO, Learning Laboratory, Zoofari Adventures and Young Photographers. Classes are offered in other subject matter including: arts & crafts, cooking, baking, reading music, Healthy U and more. The Madison Area YMCA hosts birthday parties through most of its departments. Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts can also earn scouting badges.

Kids Central offers babysitting services for children starting at 3 months old. The Zone, the Madison Area YMCA’s tween area for children ages 8 through 11, has games, books, Xbox, Kinect, rock wall climbing and more! Drop-off programs are also available that allow parents to drop off their children and leave the facility for an extended period of time—you must book a reservation in advance.

For adults: Group exercise classes, indoor cycling group exercise classes and Small Group training (SGT). SGT classes include TRX Suspension Training, Pilates Reformer, Flex and Press, Pilates MOTR and Build and Burn. Adult pickleball, men’s pick-up basketball, women’s self defense, Personal Training “Commit to Be Fit” program and Healthy Weight Loss program also available.
