Tryouts in October for Madison Area YMCA Gators and Lady Gators Travel Basketball Teams

Basketball classes/Y-Winner Basketball available for children 4 years old through 6th grade

(Madison, NJ) September 26, 2019-The Madison Area YMCA will hold free tryouts in October at the Madison Area YMCA’s Family Center in the basketball gymnasium for the Gators (Boys U12 and U14) and the Lady Gators (Girls U12 and U14) travel basketball teams.

The Gators and Lady Gators are successful and competitive travel basketball teams that play in the New Jersey YMCA Basketball League and Tournament. 

Lady Gators tryouts are Mon., Oct. 14, U12 6:30-8 p.m. and U14 8-9:30 p.m.; Wed., Oct. 16, U12 6:30-8 p.m. and U14 8-9:30 p.m.

Gators tryouts are Sun., Oct. 20, U12 5-6:30 p.m. and U14 6:30-8 p.m.; Tues., Oct. 22, U12 6:15-7:45 p.m. and U14 7:45-9:30 p.m.; Thurs., Oct. 24, U12 6:15-7:45 p.m. and U14 7:45-9:30 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 27, U12 5-6:30 p.m. and U14 6:30-8 p.m.

All players must register online or in person for tryouts. Regular season practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights for the Gators and Monday and Wednesday nights for the Lady Gators. The number of teams formed will be based on turnout. The fee includes a team jersey. Teams will play games during the week and on weekends at the Madison Area YMCA basketball gymnasium and other local Ys and outside organizations.

The Y also offers basketball classes for 4-6 year olds and school age children (Kindergarten through 6th grade). Y-Winners Basketball for grades K-3 will begin in the late fall session through the winter session. All basketball program descriptions can be found at www.madisonareaymca.org.

The Madison Area YMCA youth basketball program focuses on skill development, teamwork, fair play, sportsmanship and fun. Players learn and develop skills for the game along with game strategies and competition.
