The Madison Chatham Coalition and Bradley & Son Funeral Homes
Partner to Keep the Community Safe
(Madison, NJ) Oct. 25, 2019—The Madison Chatham Coalition is pleased to announce that it is partnering with Bradley & Son Funeral Homes in Chatham to educate and inform the funeral home’s clients about proper prescription drug disposal.
As part of this initiative, the Madison Chatham Coalition has provided complimentary Deterra envelopes, which are drug disposal kits that deactivate substances for trash disposal, to Bradley & Son Funeral Homes at their Chatham location for distribution to their clients. Bradley & Son Funeral Homes has five New Jersey locations. Deterra can provide a safe and convenient way to rid a home of remaining medication after an illness or death. The Coalition also partners with Madison Memorial Home in Madison through the distribution of Deterra envelopes.
“We are excited to partner with Bradley & Son Funeral Homes in assisting residents in the proper disposal of medications to prevent potentially harmful prescription drugs from being abused,” said Madison Chatham Coalition Coordinator Allison Bardon. “We are also grateful to the Madison Police Department, Madison Pharmacy and the Chatham Borough Police Department who also partner with us on this important endeavor.”
The Madison Police Department, Madison Pharmacy and the Chatham Township Police Department serve as collection centers equipped with drop boxes for residents to safely dispose of unused and/or expired prescription drugs.
The Madison Chatham Coalition is funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy and is a collaborative partnership between the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America. The Madison Area YMCA is a community partner and the local fiscal agent of the Madison Chatham Coalition.
