  Karen Shahidi Joins the Madison Area YMCA Board of Directors

(Madison, NJ) – December 20, 2019–The Madison Area YMCA is pleased to announce that Madison resident and active Madison Area YMCA member and volunteer Karen Shahidi joined its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

“We are delighted to welcome Karen to the Board,” said Madison Area YMCA President & CEO Diane Mann. “Karen knows our community well through her involvement across several groups and organizations including the school district and the Madison Education Foundation. Our talented Board looks forward to working with Karen to help the Y continue to make a positive impact on people in our community.”

A community volunteer in Madison for 18 years, Karen was involved with the Kings Road PTO for several years and was also co-president 2008-2009. She served on the Madison Education Foundation (MEF) Board of Trustees from 2009-2015 holding various roles including two years as co-president and four years as a grant leader. Karen held roles on the Madison High School sports booster clubs including president of the high school’s girls’ volleyball booster club. Her Y volunteer work included consulting on parent involvement for child care programs.

Prior to her volunteer work, Karen was an accountant and human resources manager for Price Waterhouse in New York City and Pittsburgh, PA. She was responsible for recruitment, training, budgeting and community engagement.

Karen and her husband Alex have lived in Madison nearly 20 years. They have three children: Allison is a graduate student, Sarah is a college junior and Matthew is a Madison High School junior.
