(Madison, NJ) January 8, 2020 - The Madison Area YMCA “Lookouts” Under 11 boys soccer team recently wrapped up a very successful 2020 fall soccer season. Led by Coach Mark Semioli, Team Manager James Bealer, and Team Administrator and Madison Area YMCA Associate Sports Director Aaron Goodwin, the Lookouts enjoyed an undefeated league season, going 10-0 in the EDP (Elite Development Program) Competitive division for Northern New Jersey. In addition, the team went undefeated in the Toms River Invitational tournament in late November and ended up coming in second in a close tiebreaker against a highly rated Scotch-Plains/Fanwood academy team in a local scrimmage, losing on the final shot of the game, 2-1. At that tournament, the boys were playing up one year since they were slotted for that age for the tournament.
“In fourteen games played, the Lookouts conceded only six goals. The exceptional efforts and elevated level of play was displayed by all team members, each playing defense at a point throughout the season. Dual goalkeepers, Owen Chow and Milo Semioli, and the quartet of principal defenders Felix Cook, Bennett Doroski, George Morgan, and Tommy Sciaccatano, took the lead in defensive force adding to this team effort as a foundation for success against the toughest of challenges,” said Coach Mark Semioli.
The team was exceptionally strong on scoring goals with Max Keltz, Jack Bealer and Milo Semioli leading the way. All team members scored goals this season with goalkeeper Owen Chow skillfully defending the net. “A strong defense and offense variety is almost unprecedented in the sport of soccer, as the boys really embraced playing total soccer no matter the position they played,” said Assoicate Sports Director Aaron Goodwin. “The team’s performance and skills over the course of the year were consistently strong, as they displayed the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility on and off the field.”
