We are excited to announce our travel soccer program beginning this spring, spearheaded by our new Associate Sports Director Dan Bennett! With programs for Boys and Girls Travel Soccer teams (Birth Years: 2014-2017) as well as tryouts for the Madison Area YMCA’s U12 Lookouts Boys team (Birth Year 2010), this is the perfect opportunity for your child to discover or grow their love for soccer.

Travel soccer program tryouts are free and take place on March 22 and March 24 from 4PM to 5:30PM at Drew University. Register online today here. “Soccer provides endless opportunities, especially for our youth with health, self-esteem, friendships, and memories that can last a lifetime. Our team of professional coaches will ensure our players are in an environment that encourages skill development through fun and engagement at a pace that is appropriate for them,” said Bennett.

“We are thrilled to have Dan Bennett join our staff! His accomplishments and dedication to teaching, will help each young athlete shine on and off the field,” said Sports Director Shaun Hawkins. Dan discovered his passion for soccer at the age of 6, and through hard work and dedication, he played for his hometown club Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth FC as a youth professional before playing with semi-professional clubs in Southwest England. Dan has twelve years of coaching experience in the United States and United Kingdom training travel, academy, high school, and collegiate athletes. He has a USSF C License, FA Level 2 Coaching Certification, Level 1 Futsal Diploma, and Level 1 Goalkeeping Diploma. Dan is ready to bring his years of experience to the Y.

“Through my professional playing and coaching career, I strive to motivate and inspire players and teams to perform at their optimal level. Seeing our youngest players take to the field for the first time is something that fills me with immense pride. Forming new teams is always exciting, and I cannot wait to watch the players grow and play every game of soccer with a smile on their face,” said Bennett.

In addition to the growing soccer offerings this spring, the Madison Area YMCA’s Sports department, along with the Gymnastics, Y Ninja Gym, Teen and Family, and Aquatics Departments, and its School of Performing Arts, is filled with programs for all ages and interests. The Y’s community-oriented culture is at the heart of every program, class, and event. Plan your spring and summer today, with programs that are fun, safe, and welcoming.
