(Madison, NJ) – April 19, 2023 – From April 1 to April 7, the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center celebrated the Week of the Young Child, an annual observance founded by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) that aims to recognize and celebrate early childhood programs that support the needs of young children and their families.
The F.M. Kirby Children’s Center celebrated by hosting a Spirit Week, with children participating in Sports Day, Mismatch Day, Superhero Day, Tie Dye Day, and Pajama Day, encouraging creativity and fun through every activity.
The Week of the Young Child celebration rounded off on Friday with Assemblywoman Aura Dunn serving as the special “mystery reader” during the reading circle.
"The children were so enthralled with the reading of Buzzy the Bumblebee; you could hear a pin drop. This story written by Denise Brennan-Nelson is about developing self-confidence and the ability to believe in yourself in the face of adversity," said Assemblywoman Dunn.
The Week of the Young Child is important in recognizing quality, affordable childcare, and the role it plays in early childhood development. With Assemblywoman Dunn signing the 2023 Week of the Young Child Proclamation, the F.M. Children’s Kirby Center is excited to continue serving the local community by being the largest high-quality early childhood education provider in Morris County.
