February 12, 2025 – The Madison Area YMCA welcomes Associate Sports Director Tyler Andreas to its Sports Program Department!

With a strong sports background as a basketball instructor and school paraprofessional, and leadership experience gained through his work as Athletics Coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton, Associate Sports Director Tyler Andreas is a welcome addition to the Madison Area YMCA’s Sports Program. Tyler earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and he has been an avid athlete for most of his life.

“We are excited about the addition of Tyler to our Sports Programs,” said Sports Program Director Shaun Hawkins. “His experience and work ethic align well with the Y’s Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty. We look forward to enhancing the basketball program with Tyler’s expertise.”

“As a youth athlete participating in football and basketball programs, I learned many lessons through the game that have served me well in life,” said Associate Sports Director Tyler Andreas. “I look forward to the opportunity to be here for our youngest members and adults alike to make a positive impact and contribute to the Madison Area YMCA’s programs.”

On Wednesday, February 5, Tyler joined the Madison Area YMCA’s competitive sports teams, Gators Basketball, Lady Gators Basketball, Royals Soccer, and Storm Girls Volleyball, to celebrate the anniversary of Title IX being passed into law. The Y is fueling the movement for gender equity in sports with hopes to inspire girls and all athletes, everywhere. Look out for more information on our annual Empower Her: Y We Play event on Saturday, March 22.

The Madison Area YMCA’s Sports Department delivers approximately 25 programs per session to an average of 400 youth, teens, and adults (in addition to competitive team athletes). Innovative programs are continually added to serve the changing needs of our community. With a diverse, passionate, and talented professional staff, including coaches and instructors, across all program areas (Sports, Aquatics, School of Performing Arts, Gymnastics, Y Ninja Gym, Special Needs programs, Teens & Family, Summer Day Camp, and Fitness and Wellness), programs at the Madison Area YMCA provide opportunities to improve physical and mental health, form lasting connections, learn something new, contribute to our community and so much more.

As a mission-driven charitable organization and community wellness center, the Madison Area YMCA is dedicated to nurturing the potential of our youth, providing a safe space for teens, improving the community’s health and well-being, and giving back by providing support to our neighbors.
