“This year’s YMCA Nationals felt like the perfect way to wrap up our season—not just because of the results, but because of the way our team came together said Gymnastics Director Christina Lopez, “All 38 gymnasts gave their best, supported one another, and represented the Madison Area YMCA with so much heart. Hearing from judges and other coaches about our athletes' focus, sportsmanship, and team spirit reminded us that success is about more than medals, it’s about character.”

A Legacy of Growth and Community

Since its inception in 1938, the YMCA National Gymnastics Championship has celebrated the athleticism and dedication of young gymnasts nationwide. This year’s event brought together hundreds of gymnasts, families, and coaches from across the country, creating a vibrant, high-energy atmosphere rooted in community and the Y’s mission.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see so many of our athletes, many of whom began in our recreational classes, achieve success on the national stage,” said Vice President of Family Center Operations Kim Buccheri. “Nationals is more than a competition, it’s a celebration of growth, confidence, and community. The way our team performed, both on and off the floor, reflects the values we aim to instill in every athlete at our Y.”
