(Madison, NJ) February 5, 2016 –The Madison Area YMCA kicked of its 2016 Annual Campaign to Y Board members, Y members and the community at the Y’s Family Center. This year’s goal is to raise $375,000 so that all in our community, regardless of income, may be enriched by the Y.

As a cause-driven charitable organization, the Y is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving our community’s health and well-being and giving back by providing support to our neighbors. Everything the Y does is in service of making us better. For some people, these services may not be attainable because of cost. The Y makes sure that these services are available to everyone in the community, regardless of income.

Greta Borowicz from Chatham is a volunteer campaigner for the third year. “I like to give back to the Y because they give something to me and my family,” said Ms. Borowicz who shared that her two children, now 9 and 6, have participated in Y programming and spent lots of fun times at Kids Central while she took cycling classes. “I’m using my time wisely to help others,” she said, adding that she enjoys the social aspect of campaigning, sharing the great news about the Y and knowing that the funds raised go back into helping her community.

The Annual Campaign raises awareness and funds for the Y’s financial assistance program that enables children and families, who work or reside within the Madison Area YMCA’s service area, to participate in Y programs and services regardless of their abilities to pay. Support is provided based upon demonstrated need. All donations remain local. The Annual Campaign also helps the Y broaden its reach into initiating enriching community wellness and health-enhancing programs.

Campaigner Joe Salko who has been a member of the Madison Area YMCA for more 36 years said that his children grew up at the Y and now his grandchildren are members. “The Y is making an impact in our community,” said Mr. Salko. “I always tell people how great the Y is and make sure that new members know what the Y gives our community.”

The Madison Area YMCA is a cause-driven charitable organization that believes that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, should be enriched by the YMCA. For a better you. For a better community. Give for a better us.
