The Madison Chatham Coalition and Madison Memorial Home Partner to Keep the Community Safe

(Madison, NJ) July 30, 2019-The Madison Chatham Coalition is pleased to announce that it is partnering with Madison Memorial Home to educate and inform Madison Memorial Home clients about proper prescription drug disposal.

As part of this initiative, the Madison Chatham Coalition has provided complimentary Deterra envelopes, which are drug disposal kits that deactivate substances for trash disposal, to Madison Memorial Home for distribution to their clients. Deterra can provide a safe and convenient way to rid a home of remaining medication after an illness or death.

“We are grateful and excited to partner with Madison Memorial Home on this exciting endeavor to keep our community safe,” said Madison Chatham Coalition Coordinator Allison Bardon. “It furthers our efforts to assist residents in the proper disposal of medications and prevents potentially harmful prescription drugs from being abused.”

The Madison Chatham Coalition also partners with the Madison Police Department and Madison Pharmacy in this initiative as collection centers equipped with drop boxes for residents to safely dispose of unused and/or expired prescription drugs. The Chatham Township Police Department also serves as a drop box location.

The Madison Chatham Coalition is funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy and is a collaborative partnership between the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America. The Madison Area YMCA is a community partner and the local fiscal agent of the Madison Chatham Coalition.
