Karé Matrisciano is the new face of leadership at the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA as she has been named the director.

“I grew up at Kirby,” said Karé. “I spent my toddler and preschool years here, came back as a teacher’s aide during my high school and college years and then began my career at Kirby after graduating with my undergraduate degree. Ten years in the classroom and seven years in operational management at Kirby has brought me to where I am—which is exactly where I’m meant to be—working with the children of Kirby and deepening partnerships with their families. I’m excited to explore what we can do together as we bring Kirby into the next exciting decade.”

With curriculums for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, in addition to enriching before- and after-school programs, and specialty programs such as Talking Tots, Preschool Readiness and Kindergarten Readiness, the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center provides a solid early education foundation.

“What many people don’t realize is that we have a structured curriculum for every age group starting with our infant program,” said Karé, noting that teachers use the Creative Curriculum which includes developmentally appropriate goals and objectives that promote independence, self-confidence and self-control.

“Since the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center is part of the Madison Area YMCA, we have the ability to offer an all-inclusive option that develops the whole child,” said Karé. “Where else can students take swimming, sports, gymnastics, performing arts and enrichment classes as part of their program?” These options are available at the Family Center during the week, keeping weekends flexible for family time.
