(Madison, NJ) – February 28, 2020– The Madison Area YMCA is pleased to announce that Melanie Barrow and Allison “Allie” Shearman have joined its Board of Directors, effective Feb. 26.

“We are delighted to welcome Melanie and Allie, who both have children enrolled at our Y’s F.M. Kirby Children’s Center,” said Madison Area YMCA President & CEO Diane Mann. “As our Kirby Center provides essential child development services to our community, Allie and Melanie will help to further deepen our Board’s expertise and knowledge about how families experience and value our childcare and early childhood education programs.”

Allie is a former tax partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLC, in Florham Park, a licensed CPA in New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Allie earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lehigh University. A Chatham native and “graduate” of the Kirby Center, Allie grew up at the Madison Area YMCA where she participated on the Rosettes Gymnastics Team. She is a graduate of Kent Place School, where she currently serves on the school’s Alumnae Board, a philanthropy leadership group.

Melanie works on the Professional Development team at McKinsey & Company. She began her career in Foreign Exchange Sales with Goldman Sachs in New York, NY. Melanie earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, studying Statistics & Biometry and Applied Economics & Management. She was first introduced to the Y in her native Ohio, where she has fond memories of participating in the Adventure Princesses program.

Allie and Melanie both have volunteered at the Kirby Center in various roles, and most recently have helped to establish the new Kirby Parents Committee. Allie and her husband Robert are parents to Owen, 3, and Caden, 1, who attend the Kirby Center. Melanie and her husband Andy are parents to Caroline, 6, and Andrew, 4, who are also enrolled at Kirby.

As a mission-driven nonprofit, the Madison Area YMCA is dedicated to empowering young people to reach their full potential, improving individual and community well-being, and providing support and inspiring action in our communities.
