Kirby Students Enjoy Benefits of Madison Area YMCA Membership

 (Madison, NJ) September 18, 2020 – In addition to the many educational and social benefits provided to its students, the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA delivers many opportunities for children to develop healthy imaginations and strong bodies.  

During their time as Kirby students, enrollees maintain an active Kirby Student youth membership to the Madison Area YMCA which allows them to enroll in a number of different classes at the attractive member rate. With program offerings ranging from enrichment, sports, performing arts, and gymnastics, students are encouraged to discover the advantages of physical activity and creative artistry. The Madison Area YMCA offers parent/child classes for infants and young children which give new parents opportunities to bond and help their child develop in a social and interactive environment. Toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children can participate in sports skill development programs that inspire teamwork and sportsmanship, gymnastics and Y Ninja Gym classes which foster problem solving and coordination, and dance classes through the Y’s School of Performing Arts (SOPA) which boost creativity.  

Long-time Kirby parent, Madison Area YMCA member and F.M. Kirby Children’s Center staff member, Katie Koontz has enjoyed the opportunities that a membership has provided for her family. Koontz said, “Through programs at the YMCA, I have seen my children grow, learn and gain an incredible new outlook. They love attending classes where they can see their Kirby friends and they’ve become more outgoing, adventurous and self-confident. My family is so thankful for the opportunities that Kirby and the Y have given us!”  

With their YMCA membership, Kirby children become part of an even larger community where they are able to meet new friends, develop important life skills and gain self-confidence and independence. All classes at the Madison Area YMCA are taught by skilled and dedicated instructors who know and appreciate the value of the lessons that can be learned in small group classes. Kirby parents and siblings can also benefit from member rates. Households that are eligible, can receive a 10% reduced rate on membership for the whole family. An active YMCA membership includes virtual and outdoor group exercise classes, lap swim and use of the Fitness Center among other features of membership at no additional fee.  

Fall 1 session programs are underway with limited availability remaining. Our 5-week Fall II session online registration opens Thursday, October 1, at 9 a.m. with programs starting Monday, October 19. These programs are open to our community. The Y offers a variety of enriching program opportunities to meet the varying needs of our families during this challenging back-to-school time this fall.
