          Kindergarten Wraparound and Before-& After-School Care
at the F. M. Kirby Children’s Center

(Madison, NJ) August 6, 2015 – The start of the school year is around the corner! Would your half-day kindergartner benefit from a stimulating enrichment program? Does your school-age child need a safe, nurturing place to go before school starts in the morning or after school ends in the afternoon?

The Kindergarten Wraparound program and After-School program at the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center provides a safe and enriching learning environment that is focused on STEAM-based activities to keep both minds and bodies active with an emphasis on fun.

The Kindergarten Wraparound program includes classes in areas such as: digital technology, health and wellness, creative arts, cooking, science, Spanish and computers. Learning-based activities blend creativity and independence that reinforce developmental skills.

The program allows for convenient drop off and pick up times at the Kirby Center located at 54 East Street in Madison with transportation provided to and from local schools, including during delayed openings and early dismissals due to inclement weather. Full-day care is available during school vacations and closings.

Transportation is provided to and from the Kirby Center for Kindergarten Wraparound students who are enrolled in Family Center swimming, gymnastics, dance and sports classes. Options until 3:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. are available. An extended care option until 6:45 p.m. is also available. The program is offered two to five days per week with a healthy lunch and snack provided.

The After-School program for 1st through 5th graders is available two to five days per week with a healthy snack provided. Pick-up is 6 p.m. An extended care option is available until 6:45 p.m. Bussing is provided to the Kirby Center from Chatham, Madison and Florham Park schools. Students participate in interactive learning, fitness and dedicated homework time. Transportation is also provided to and from local schools, including during delayed openings and early dismissals due to inclement weather. Full-day care is available during school vacations and closings. Transportation is provided to and from the Madison Area YMCA Kirby Center for students who are enrolled in Family Center swimming, gymnastics, dance and sports classes.

A Before-School option, with drop-off as early as 7a.m., is available for kindergarten through 5th grade students that includes a nutritious breakfast and activities with friends before school starts in the morning. Transportation is provided to local schools.

The F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA is one of the largest early childhood education centers in the area offering exceptional quality in childcare and curriculum-based early childhood education programs and care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, Young 5 students and kindergartners. The Center offers Before- and After-School Care and a Kindergarten Wraparound program. Programming includes Talking Tots, a half-day toddler program with an intensive focus on speech and language acquisition and development taught by a specially-trained teaching team under the direction of a licensed speech and language pathologist.

Initially serving as an elementary school, the Kirby Center facility is specifically designed for children. Located on almost 3 acres of property, the Center has a full-size gym, full kitchen that serves snacks and meals developed by a staff nutritionist, a registered nurse on staff and five state-of-the-art playgrounds to serve all age groups. 

The F.M. Kirby Children’s Center is a member of the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance and a participating partner in the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey’s Healthy U program which teaches children the importance of physical activity and healthful nutrition. Financial assistance may be available for eligible families.
