Register for the Madison Area YMCA Fall 2018 Session  

(Madison, NJ) – August 17, 2018– Exercise your body, mind and spirit and let health, fitness, and wellness begin at the Y. Register for Madison Area YMCA Fall 2018 classes that begin on Monday, September 10. Members and non-members welcome. Priority registration for members begins Tuesday, August 21, at 7:30 p.m. online and in person. Open registration begins Tuesday, August 28.

The Aquatics department, which is implementing a new updated Y swim curriculum, is offering 10-week sessions for children starting at 6 months old through 16. The new curriculum is based on extensive research and is designed to meet participants’ needs and help them reach their goals. Focused on safety in and around the water, the program is grounded in a skill continuum that allows students to flow easily from one stage to the next, with clearly defined stages of progress along the way. 

Private swim lessons are available for children 3 years old through adult. The Madison Area YMCA swim team, the Mariners, offers a year-round opportunity for competitive swimming in both YMCA and USA Swimming for girls and boys from 6 years old through high school.  

The Gymnastics department is offering 20-week sessions for children of all ages. Parent/child classes are available for crawlers. Gymnastics classes for preschoolers through teens are available. Competitive opportunities are available through participation on the Rosettes gymnastics team. The Gymnastics department is also offering Y Ninja Gym, a structured training program that is based on obstacle course training methodology that includes: strength and conditioning drills, specialty skill development (flips, rolls, jumps and kicks), tumbling, martial arts skills and mindfulness/meditation practices. This program is specifically designed to build coordination, motor control, conditioning, proprioception, body awareness, spatial awareness, agility and physical strength while developing self-confidence, teamwork and discipline. Classes are available for children starting at age 2. Adult classes are also available. 

The School of Performing Arts is offering 20-week sessions for children starting at 2 years old in a variety of disciplines from tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip hop to musical theatre, singing, Broadway song choir, acting and improvisation. Performing Arts private lessons are available. Adult classes are also available.

The Sports department is offering 10-week sessions for children of all ages from preschool through school age in sports including basketball, floor hockey, golf, karate, lacrosse, soccer, indoor soccer, t-ball, tennis, volleyball, strength and athlete training, speed and agility training, sports and games, and Y-Winners flag football. Preseason basketball training is available for boys and girls in 5th-8th grade to brush up on skills before the season starts. 

Enrichment and Family programming at the Y includes 10-week classes starting with parent/child classes through school age in a variety of subject matter including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) classes for toddlers through 12 year olds. Many classes available including Mad About Math, Build with Me, Math Mania, Little Lab Coats, Learning Laboratory, Galaxy Explorers, Adventure LEGO® and LEGO® Mindstorms Madness. Classes are offered in other subject matter including: arts & crafts, cooking, reading music, Healthy U and more. The Madison Area YMCA hosts birthday parties through most of its departments. Girls can earn Girl Scout badges. New: Boys can earn Boy Scout badges. 

New: Triple Play for preschoolers—it’s the perfect complement to your preschooler's schedule. The day begins with a curbside pickup by dedicated Y staff who guide children through the Triple Play day. The schedule includes getting creative in our Enrichment area with an exciting arts and crafts class, tumbling and jumping with our Gymnastics and Y Ninja Gym department, and exploring with LEGO bricks, science experiments and more in our STEM program. Children bring a healthy lunch and the Triple Play day concludes with an imaginative free-play experience in our indoor playground in Kids Central. New: Super Kids Enrichment & STEM for children 6-8 years old with special needs.  

Kids Central offers babysitting services for children starting at 3 months old. The Zone, the Madison Area YMCA’s tween area for children ages 8 through 11, has games, books, Xbox, Kinect, rock wall climbing and more! Drop-off programs are also available that allow parents to drop off their children and leave the facility for an extended period of time—you must book a reservation in advance. 

Healthy Living at the Y includes a variety of group exercise classes, indoor cycling group exercise classes, personal training, Small Group Training (SGT) which includes TRX Suspension Training, Pilates Reformer, Flex and Press, Build and Burn and Pilates MOTR are available. Y instructors will provide free SGT demonstration classes at the Y’s Family Center on Monday, September 10. Healthy Living also includes nutrition counseling sessions offered by the Y’s nutritionist.   

Health & Wellness programming at the Y includes: LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, Diabetes Prevention Program, One Step, Delay the Disease, Enhance Fitness, Healthy Hearts, Community Mental Health Initiative and Project Community Pride of the Madison Area YMCA.
