(Madison, NJ)  June 9, 2017The Madison Area YMCA’s School of Performing Arts sixth Year-End Performance, “Greetings from the Garden State,” was a smashing success on Saturday, June 3, at the College of St. Elizabeth’s Annunciation Center in Morristown.

During three performances, “Greetings from the Garden State” featured hit songs from New Jersey artists and shows through the decades. More than 300 performers from 2 to 15 years old took to the stage dancing, singing and acting in Ballet, Tap, Broadway Jazz, Creative Movement, Hip Hop, Irish dance and Musical Theater numbers.

Memorable numbers included: “My Funny Valentine” by Frank Sinatra, “It’s My Party” by Lesley Gore, “Sherry” by The Four Seasons, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Valli, “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor, the Tom Waite version of “Jersey Girl” and “Cake by the Ocean” by Dub Step (Remix).

“Our students dazzled the audience again this year. It was a great day for everyone involved,” said Madison Area YMCA School of Performing Arts Director Kim Buccheri. “I’m proud of the performers’ hard work, the dedication of my staff and the families who bring their children to the Y for classes. Our School of Performing Arts provides wonderful experiences and opportunities for young children to express themselves creatively, learn skills and build self-esteem while having fun in a nurturing environment.”   

During June, July and August, in addition to our traditional summer classes, The School of Performing Arts is offering Summer Preschool (3-6 years) Mini Clinics and Summer School Age (7+ years) Workshops. Preschool Mini Clinic offerings include: Hip Hop/Musical Theatre Mini Clinic, Fun Dance & Theatre Mini Clinic and Ballet & Tap Mini Clinic. School Age Workshop offerings include: Hip Hop/Breakdance Workshop, Acting for Film & Television Workshop, Triple Threat Performance Workshop, Cheerleading Workshop, Lyrical Dance Workshop and Hip Hop/Musical Theatre Workshop.
